REF Peroxide Developer is REF Stockholm's oxidising cream developer, formulated to be mixed with REF Permanent Colour, REF Soft Colour or REF's lightening/bleach products, sold in 1000ml bottles. It's available in five strengths — 1.9% (6 Vol), 3% (10 Vol), 6% (20 Vol), 9% (30 Vol) and 12% (40 Vol) — so a colourist can choose the level of lift and processing behaviour a service needs, from simple toning with no lift up to high-lift blonding.

Hydrogen peroxide developer is a genuine hazardous chemical, independent of whichever colour it's mixed with: it is an oxidising agent that can cause skin and eye irritation, or, at the higher 9%/12% strengths in particular, more serious eye damage on direct contact, and it can be harmful if swallowed. It must only be used by a trained professional, kept away from the eyes and broken/irritated skin, and never mixed with anything other than the intended REF colour or lightening product. Wear gloves during mixing and application, keep out of reach of children, and rinse immediately and thoroughly with water if it contacts skin or eyes. Store below 25°C, away from direct sunlight, heat and reducing agents.

Composition

Third-party retailer/ingredient-database listings for REF Cream Developer commonly cite: Aqua (Water), Hydrogen Peroxide, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth-30, Paraffinum Liquidum (Mineral Oil), Lauryl Alcohol, Parfum (Fragrance), Myristyl Alcohol, Hexyldecyl Laurate, Hexyldecanol, Etidronic Acid, Tetrasodium EDTA, Oxyquinoline Sulfate, Simethicone, Ceteareth-20, Laureth-3, Hydrolyzed Quinoa, Benzyl Alcohol, Potassium Sorbate, and Sodium Benzoate. The hydrogen peroxide concentration is the variable between the five strengths (1.9%/3%/6%/9%/12%); this ingredient list has not been independently confirmed against REF's own current packaging and should be checked before relying on it for allergy purposes. Hydrogen peroxide is an oxidiser and, at the higher strengths, a recognised skin/eye irritant.
