REF Hair Soft Colours
Sold by Possumus SIA
REF Hair Soft Colours is REF Stockholm's semi-/demi-permanent, tone-on-tone colour system, sold in 50ml bottles across a wide shade range (~41 shades) that mirrors REF's Permanent Colour tonalities. Unlike Permanent Colour, Soft Colour is ammonia-free and MEA (monoethanolamine)-based, which REF markets as gentler and more conditioning; mixed 1:1 with a low-strength REF Peroxide Developer, it gives a soft refresh, gloss/toner effect, or a fuller tone-on-tone deposit depending on developer strength and processing time.
Soft Colour is gentler than permanent colour but it is not hazard-free: mixed with peroxide developer it remains an oxidative professional product that can cause skin and eye irritation, and — like most tone-on-tone/demi colours — it typically still contains fragrance and coupler-type dye ingredients that are recognised skin sensitisers, even without ammonia or PPD in the base formula. A preliminary sensitivity (patch) test before use is recommended, gloves should be worn during mixing and application, and the product should not be used on broken or irritated skin/scalp or near the eyes. Sold as professional stock; must be mixed with a REF Peroxide Developer before use.

Composition
REF describes Soft Colour as an ammonia-free, MEA-based tone-on-tone colour with a liquid, softening olive-oil carrier for easy mixing, plus soothing aloe vera and strengthening quinoa protein. A complete, independently-verified INCI for Soft Colour was not located in available sources; typical demi/semi tone-on-tone colours in this category rely on lower-molecular-weight direct/coupling dyes and fragrance rather than the ammonia and PPD-type intermediates used in permanent colour, but can still contain recognised fragrance allergens — check the specific shade's packaging/INCI before relying on this for allergy or vegan-status purposes.
How to use
Mix 1:1 with the chosen REF Peroxide Developer (lightly shake or tilt the Soft Colour bottle before mixing). Use 6 Vol/1.9% for a semi effect with gradual colour release and a softer line of demarcation, or 10 Vol/3% for a more demi effect with slower release and a slightly deeper result. Processing time: 30 minutes for full deposit, 20 minutes for a "fresh'n up" refresh, or 5–20 minutes for a toner/gloss effect. Apply to clean, towel-dried hair for the softest effect. Perform a patch/sensitivity test before use, wear gloves, and avoid contact with eyes.
